K1600GT & GTL

Submitted by Tom on November 27, 2010 – 2:13 pmNo Comment

Here they are! The new K1600GT and GTL with BMW’s new and compact inline six. These are truly motorcycles for the lovers of gadgets, acronyms, comfort and stability… as well as all the other stuff that motorcyclists enjoy.

In the gadget department we have the new adaptive headlight that compensates for pitch standard. The option for the adaptive headlight compensates for banking allowing you to better illuminate what is around a turn. Also new is the 5.7 inch thin film transistor (TFT) display sandwiched between the analog speedometer and tachometer which displays tons of information and is navigated via the multi-controller roller mechanism introduced on the R1200RT. While the electronically adjustable windshield isn’t new, the memory function is. Another new feature of the windshield occurs when the bike is switched off and the windshield returns to the lowest state to act as an anti-theft mechanism for the optional GPS.

In the acronym department we have:
– ABS Anti-lock Braking System
– DTC Dynamic Traction Control
– ESAII Electronic Suspension Adjustment (solo, solo w/luggage, passenger w/luggage)
– RDC tire pressure monitoring
– EWS anti-theft mechanism
– DWA central locking and alarms (option)

We’re looking forward to getting a chance to play with all the gadgets and put the acronyms through the paces with some seat time as soon as they become available.
